Enjoy a relaxing afternoon boat ride along Hoi An’s Hoai River while discovering the area’s diverse birdlife. Learn about local bird species, and enjoy a welcome drink.
Experience Itinerary
Part 1 – Welcome Drink, Orientation (20–30 minutes)
Begin your experience with a welcome drink at 76 Bach Dang, Hoi An, followed by a short introduction to Viet Endangered Narratives, our conservation work, and the biodiversity of Central Vietnam.
Part 2 – Boat Tour, Birdwatching & Field Observation (1–1.5 hours)
Next, board a boat arranged by VEN and set off on a relaxing afternoon journey along the Hoai River. As you cruise through Hoi An, keep an eye out for the birds that inhabit the river and surrounding wetlands. Your guide will help you identify different species and share insights into their behavior, habitats, and role in the local ecosystem.
As the afternoon progresses, the boat heads back along the river while birds begin returning to their resting and roosting areas. This is a wonderful time to observe their natural behavior and enjoy the changing scenery of Hoi An as the sun sets over the river.
Part 3 – Return Ride (30 minutes)
At the end of the journey, return to 76 Bach Dang and conclude the experience with your guide.

This is a private, beginner-friendly birdwatching and wildlife photography-inspired experience. The focus is on slowing down, observing respectfully, learning basic field ethics, and enjoying Hoi An’s quieter natural landscapes.
Participants may use binoculars and professional cameras during the experience. Please observe responsibly: do not chase birds, disturb nests, use playback calls, enter private land without permission, or damage habitats for photos.
Routes may change depending on weather, road conditions, guest safety, and local activities.
Participants should bring comfortable clothes, sun protection, a refillable water bottle, insect repellent, a camera or phone, binoculars if available, and a light rain jacket during rainy season.
